Accidental Sabbatical
Building the habit of writing these weekly email blasts is hard. I missed last week. It happens! I’m alive and well, just been busy.
eBay Store
This week I listed a ton of back issues of Hot Rod Magazine on the eBay store. My mom also listed a bunch of general stuff. Check it out.
KHSAA Lacrosse
I’ve been running over the western half of Kentucky doing Girls’ Lacrosse matches. I had 8 matches in 8 days (two multiple-game play days in that space). This is really only problematic because of the amount of driving I’ve had to do. Otherwise, it’s been a blast! I really enjoy refereeing girls’ lacrosse. To the point I’ve not only got my KHSAA license, I also picked up the USA Lacrosse Basic and am working on the advanced credentials.
I also have the KHSAA Boys’ Lacrosse certification. However, the boys’ game intimidates me. The level of contact that the boys are allowed to hit each other with is a bit above what I’m comfortable calling at this point. I’m hoping a couple of years of working girls’ will help me feel more comfortable.
I don’t enjoy it as much as I enjoy Soccer but I think I enjoy it more than Volleyball. It’s a solid addition to my toolbox.
Current Refereeing Licenses
Speaking of, I’ve got quite a few licenses. I really didn’t realize I had as many as I had!
Dave’s Refereeing Licenses:
International Blind Sport Federation (IBSA) Blind Football (Soccer)
United States Soccer Federation Soccer
United States Soccer Federation Futsal
National Federation of High Schools Soccer (Girls and Boys)
National Federation of High Schools Volleyball (Girls and Boys)
National Federation of High Schools Girls’ Lacrosse
USA Lacrosse (Girls)
National Federation of High Schools Boys’ Lacrosse
I enjoy refereeing. It’s crazy the doors that refereeing and umpiring has opened for me. So Hurray for that.
Second Soccer Tournament
Tomorrow starts my second Soccer Tournament of the year. Looking forward to it. Will be doing U-11 games all weekend, which is a weird age group. They’re allowed to punt but they aren’t allowed to head. It should be a pretty easy couple of days. I have some issues with the specific game rules, but hopefully known of them are any issues.
Coping
I’ve been coping as best I can. I have had to stick my head into the sand on a lot of stuff on social media. Things I can’t affect, I can’t give my attention. This is because otherwise it will really tear my blood pressure and stress levels.
Car Issue
Sarah’s Buick had to go into the shop, and so we’re looking at an unbudgeted expense. I have the cash in hand to fix it, but as with all unbudgeted expense, we’re going to have to make it up. I’m thinking about doing a Woodchips N Whistles T-shirt run to help make up for this. I have to come up with some sort of funny joke and find a good vendor to do it. So we’re at least a week or three out from that.
Anyway, be awesome to each other! I love you guys. Sorry for the short newsletter this week. I’ll do better next week and take better notes.
