Leaving Substack for here
I liked the Substack environment, but I discovered a fatal flaw. One that I did not-see coming when it came to ownership and what they supported. When it was pointed out to me today by an online friend, I searched out a new host for my silly ramblings that I’m fortunate enough that some of y’all enjoy reading. I stumbled here. It seems like the best for what I want to do.
So, here’s a mental health update, since there’s not really been any soccer going on the last month. January has been a nightmare. I’m not even 100% sure on why it’s been so rough. But when I looked at the calendar and saw that today was Chinese New Year, I kind of panicked, because January is plum gone.
My lathe came in over the last month, only for me to realize I didn’t really have a place to set it up yet, once again I put the cart before the horse. But fortunately, I own the lathe now, so hurray for that.
My new carving knives finally came in as well! These are by a German Company called “Two Cherries” and are imported by a place in California. I’ve really enjoyed using these knives, but I do wish that the handles were a bit thicker because of the Viking Contracture in my hands. That is not a sponsored link, but if they decide they want to sponsor me, I surely wouldn’t tell them no. I’ve gotten about a third of the links on my wooden chain carved loose, so I’m hoping I can finish this project in the near future. I’m also interested in messing with power carving using a rotary tool, but I’m still kind of hesitant on it.

This winter has been very difficult for me. I’ve been developing my own breed of spirituality to try to find hope once again in the world. The current set of world events are getting to me. So I’m turning to meditation and medication to try to keep myself somewhat sane. I’m sure this, too shall pass. Because I persist. I shall continue to chop wood, carry water, drink coffee, and manifest spite.
Love all y’all and thanks for giving this little post a read. Think about giving me a subscribe.
